On most plants the variable that decides the process is the one nobody can measure: the froth on a flotation cell, the foam on a tank. X Vision turns a camera pointed at that surface into a continuous number the control room can read. The maths runs on the instrument, and the answer arrives as a Modbus register your PLC already knows how to poll.

We are a small team. One of us spent seventeen years dosing the chemistry these plants run on, and the other writes the software. That is the whole company, which is why the person who answers your email is the person who will aim the camera.

Dan has spent seventeen years in heavy industry, most of it with Nalco Water and then Solenis, selling and applying the antifoam and flocculant that plants dose every day. The work took him through mineral concentrators and food plants, first as an area manager and then running the national desk. The same gap turned up at every site. The surface that decided the process, the froth on a cell or the foam on a tank, was the one variable nobody could measure. Operators judged it by eye and dosed to a habit. Some of them were very good at it, and every one of them went home at the end of the shift.

He first sketched X Vision around 2010. The idea held up. The hardware did not. Reading a moving surface in real time needs a camera that survives a wet, dusty plant and a processor that can do the maths on the spot, and for most of the decade that followed, that machine cost more than the problem was worth. That stopped being true a few years ago, which is when X Vision became a product instead of a sketch. Dan builds and commissions the instruments, and he still runs the trials and the audits himself.

Software and the vision pipeline

Mark writes the software. He came to X Vision from the engineering team at annalise.ai, which builds AI that reads medical images, and then close to four years on an ASX-listed retailer’s internal finance platform. Both places share a constraint with this one. The output is a number someone acts on, so a system that is quietly wrong does more damage than one that visibly stops.

He builds the vision pipeline and everything downstream of it, from the code running on the camera through to the Modbus registers your PLC polls.

Range

One plant runs two of our systems

An Australian food-processing site has the X Foam instrument on trial across its process tanks, and Industrial Data Systems on its trade-waste compliance. The camera watches the foam on the floor. The software turns what left the site into a signed monthly record the plant can defend.

We do not name customers, so that is as far as the description goes. It is also the reason both products exist under one company: the measurement and the paperwork it ends up in are the same problem twice.
